It’s been awhile since I shared some things that are going on in my own house so this week seemed like the perfect one to circle back 🙂 I have been doing a lot of projects and (late) spring cleaning around my townhouse this weekend so things were in good shape to take some photos.
Many months ago I shared some photos of my bedroom on the blog but so many things have changed that I wanted to take some new photos and maybe bring some ideas and inspiration to all of you if you’re looking to try something new in a room in your house!
The first big change is my bedset/comforter. My former set was getting worn and faded from the sunlight coming in my window every day and so I did some extreme hunting for a new one on Wayfair and found exactly what I was looking for! This orange and teal patterned comforter set was only $75 and it included 2 shams and 2 decorative pillows. I love the lightweight blend of the fabric and the mix of colors it brings to my already bright bedroom. The other blanket on my bed is a heavy faux fur on one side fleece on the other blanket from Target.
My headboard was also an awesome score from Wayfair. I like the classic look to it and it offers balance to the other colored elements of the room. The garland above my bed I made by hot gluing colored tassels to a piece of plain white garland with small pom-poms. Hanging it up with clear tiny command hooks made it easy to eyeball and create the curve.
My bedside table was my inspiration for my wall color. I bought the table from a couple at a garage sale who had repurposed and painted it while I was still living in my apartment more than a year ago. I loved the unique cutouts on the side as well as the shelf down lower to hold books. When I moved into my townhouse and had the ability to paint I was able to color match the table and buy paint for the accent wall behind my bed to match exactly!
On the table I also have one of my favorite wood signs from Gordmans, (Let Her Sleep, For When She Wakes She Will Move Mountains….a good message to have in your mind when falling asleep!) a sweet geometric gold decor piece from Target, and this SHOWSTOPPER of a lamp also from Target. I had my eye on this lamp for a couple of months but couldn’t justify buying it at full price. A couple of weeks ago I spotted it on a clearance endcap and leaped for joy! It matches the orange on my bedspread perfectly and ties in with the gold in the rest of the items on the table.
A few final changes that are newer in my room are some metal/wood letters I found at Gordmans. They went well on the small section of wall between my window and the fun paper brown stars I bought at Target and hung from the ceiling in the corner. I also added a few new things to the top of my dresser drawer. The photo frame was a gift from a friend and the other decor items are all from Gordmans! Adding 2 different kinds of filler to a vase or jar can add some depth. I used the rock for a natural element and then added these fun lightweight gold sequin spheres that I found at Micheal’s.
Lastly, this wall of my room I have included before but wanted to include again. I had one bigger wall left in my room that I was having trouble finding decor for. Then in a magazine and on some of the other blogs I follow I saw how ladies were using their own jewelry as decorations and thought I should do that myself! I found these turquoise jewelry holders at Bed Bath and Beyond. I attached them to the wall with command strips and then hung my jewelry up with like colors hanging next to eachother. Now I have a whole wall that is “decorated” with things I already owned! I also find I wear my jewelry way more often now because I can easily see all of it and match it to my outfit for that day. I worked in a couple more decor pieces to give the wall some more interest. The yarn hanging is from Kittsona Lifestyle, the canvas from TJ Maxx, and the owl outlet cover is from Delia’s!
I hope these photos and ideas were helpful to you!! Thanks so much for reading 🙂 I hope you’re all enjoying your weekend. Make sure to take time tomorrow to offer extra thoughts to those who have served our country and paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.
